First PP period

Hi ladies...

Just wondering what your experiences have been with having your first PP period.  I was exclusively pumping and weaned off that at about 11-12 weeks.  I'm at 14 weeks tomorrow and woke up this morning with a massive gush of blood.  I was rather surprised because I had no prior cramping or indication that it was coming, and I wasn't expecting it so soon.

Have your periods changed since before you were pregnant?  I often used to get horrendous headaches on the first day or two, as well as cramps so bad that I would occasionally have to take off work.  I'm not prepared with any of my normal meds (Excedrin Migraine, Midol) Stick out tongue  and I don't plan on making a run to the store.

Just looking to see what your experiences have been.  TIA!

  • It's a mess. A. Hot. Mess. And my 2nd and 3rd one was also. My first one lasted 10 days. Not kidding. You will probably even out in a few months. Sorry I'm not really a voice of optimism, but those PP AF- Suck. Eggs. GL and go buy some of those Big Pads. Trust me.

  • I have only had 2 PP and they were both really  heavy compared to normal.

  • This first one was AWFUL! The amounts of blood were significantly higher than mine used to be, but I have to say the cramps were not nearly as bad as I had before...I took a midol anyways though just to make me more functioning! The second one wasn't bad and then the third one was heavy again, also they are just now starting to regulate, like one month it would be 30 days apart and the next 28 and the next 26 and I really had no signs it was coming either! It gets better though!

Thank you so much!  I really should put a more updated one in there...I'll get around to it eventually. Smile

And thanks ladies...I was afraid it would be heavy and inconsistent, but I thought I would check.  I'm feeling the cramps coming on, so I'm glad DH is only working 1/2 day today.  I don't want to take the boys out in the crappy weather just for Midol.

    Thanks again!

  • I'm on my 3rd cycle, and they've all been pretty normal. I suppose I'm lucky? I keep hearing everyone elses are terrible. But I just wanted to let you know that it is possible for it to be just like your regular period. :) GL!
