Re: CPW: Cheesy rebels

  • I said no... I have had mozzarella and feta melted onto pizza, but I don't think that counts.

  • I try to buy pasteurized, but I will eat it at a restaurant with no problem and don't worry about it.

  • Feta cheese was one cheese DH asked the dr at my first appt and she said it was fine. The only soft cheese she said no to was cream cheese, but after 6 months of reading what some of you ladies have had, I don't think cream cheese will hurt me either. lol.
  • I live in France.  I rest my case.

  • I dislike feta but I really enjoy mozzerella and especially goat cheese...but when I buy any of the cheese, I always make sure they are pasturized therefore safe to eat and I am good to go.

  • In the US it's illegal to sell cheese made with unpasteurized milk, unless it is aged for a minimum of I think 60 days, which kills any harmful bacteria that was present in the raw milk.  It's kind of obnoxious that Dr's offices here still put "OMG NO SOFT CHEESE!!!!!" on the list of things not to eat....since it would be pretty impossible to obtain harmful cheese even if you wanted to (Note: when not pregnant, I really want to).  Unless you have a black market cheese connection....in which case, gimme the info!
