Special Needs

Went to an event tonight for a center for kids/young adults with special needs

and it was AWESOME!!! DH's grandparents have donated over $100,000 to the center, so we got to go to the donor's benefit. It's a multidisciplinary center for kids with special needs in our area. The awesome part is that DH's grandparents donated all of that money and were involved well before we found out that the baby girl we're expecting has Down syndrome. Amazing huh? Tonight was definitely more personal and emotional than they were expecting!

The website is www.oakwood.org/cef if anyone wants to check it out. It was seriously a huge eye opener for us and we made some great contacts. We got to meet Dr. Youngs, who is heading the program, she is so nice and down to earth!

Just wanted to share, DH and I feel so uplifted and excited for our baby to get here!

One thing we loved was that one of the major donors/board members said, "Our goal for the CEF was for the children in our community to have a place where instead of being told all of the things they can't do, they hear about everything they CAN do!"
