Hi ladies!
I haven't been on here much lately.  I posted some updates on the FB page, but I thought I would post here too, if anyone is interested.

My water broke last Friday (10/14) at 29w1d.  I really though that maybe I had just peed my pants but my bff, who is a nurse, convinced me to call the doctor.  It was after 10pm, so I spoke with the on-call doc and he said it would be best to go to L&D and they could do a quick swab.  Well, it was amniotic fluid and things went pretty quickly from there.  I was taken by ambulance to a different hospital that had a better NICU and I have been here since.  They put me on magnesium for 48 hours and pumped me full of antibiotics (since infection is a big risk) and gave me a couple steroid shots to help mature Dominic's lungs.

They told me that 80% of people go into labor within a week after their water breaks, but I am holding strong.  I am continuing to lose fluid and today I got put on the monitor 24 hr/day because D's heart rate was doing some wonky things and they want to get a 24 hour picture of it to determine if it is a problem or just a fluke.

Everyday I am in here is one more D can spend cooking.  Our big goal right now is to get to 32 weeks.  The nurses all say that is a huge milestone.  But to me, everyday is a milestone!

    Oh honey, I'm so sorry you're going through this.  I know how stressful it is holding out hope that your baby can stay in there just a little longer to get some more development.  I am glad that they are giving you the steroids to mature his lungs (I've been getting that too).  I've looked into it and there are really great success rates with babies being born early if they've had the time to get the 'roids.

    I'll be thinking of you and praying that little Dominic will stay in there until at least 32 weeks.  If you ever want to talk, vent, cry, anything...I'm around and since I'm on bed-rest I'm plugged into the web pretty much all day!

    I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this too!  But, I thought you might get a kick out of knowing my water broke on the same day as my swearing in.  So, at least he waited until that was done and I can offically say I am an attorney Smile
