***mrsoc*** regarding sharing a room

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you!  For some reason I can't get onto this board at home.  I don't have a problem with the other boards though.  It's weird.  Anyways, Dylan was 11 months and Justin was a little over 2 1/2 when they starting sharing a room.  We had Dylan in a PNP all that time because Justin was still in the crib.  We put them in the room together when Justin was ready for a toddler bed.  At first it worked out pretty well because Dylan went to bed before Justin did.  We would put Dylan down and then put Justin to bed after Dylan was asleep.  And he never seemed to wake up when we were putting Justin to bed.  However, Dylan used to be a horrible sleeper.  He would wake up several times/night.  Luckily Justin usually slept right through it or he would just sit up in bed and then lay back down.  We had to do the ferber method though with Dylan. We felt so bad for Justin that we ended up pulling his toddler bed into our room the two times we did it so that he wouldn't have to listen to Dylan cry.  Dylan did really well with the ferber method so it was just a few days both times we did it.

Fast forward to now....Dylan is 22 months and Justin is a little over 3.  They both go to bed at the same time so that's really easy.  And Dylan is a great sleeper now.  Justin is the one that wakes up a few times a night for water.  Dylan sleeps right through it...thank god.  The only problem we have now is on the weekends.  Justin tends to wake up early and then he wakes up Dylan....ugh!!  And naps can be tough on the weekends when we try to get them to sleep together at the same time.  Normally we are out and about and they just nap in the car, but sometimes we'll try to give them a nap at home.  That can be a challenge.

Good luck!!  You just never know how it will all work out.  I think now that my boys are getting older they will really start to like sharing a room since they play so much together now.

  • Thank you so much!  I appreciate you sharing what worked for you.  I will let you know when we cross the bridge :).  I do like having A in with us in the PNP, so it may be a little while.
