Yes, and I put a slash through my zeros to distinguish them from the letter O. Not sure why I cross my 7s and Zs. Hmmm.
ETA: A quick google search says you cross Zs to distinguish from 2s (makes sense to me now) and cross 7s to distinguish from 1s (although my 1s don't look like uncrossed 7s).

This. Though, I know that I started crossing my 7's and 0's when I was in college and taking accounting classes. This was back in the day when we did handwritten ledgers and it was easier to read the numbers that way. No idea why I cross my Z's LOL

I only do Zs. I started doing it in y college math classes to distinguish from 2s. DD has a Z in her first name so it takes quite an effort from me to write her name without the slash.
Yes, I do. My dad taught me this in probably elementary school. He said it was from his old math teacher days. I will probably teach DD as well as she has a Z in her name. I am wondering what the teachers will say though, as I have never really seen anyone other than my Calculus professors do this.
I've done both for as long as I can remember... the only teacher I ever remember having a problem with any of it was my 5th grade teacher. She told me I wasn't allowed to cross my 7s. I told her it's how I write and I'm not changing it because it's still correct and is still a 7. My parents agreed with me and never had a problem with backing me up on that while I was in school.
