Appealing insurance company?

Does anyone have any good resources that you used to help in appealing your health insurance company to cover your formula? Our doc tried to write an prescription for her formula but the insurance company said that since it's available via nonprescription, they won't cover it. I have heard of people getting theirs covered, though, when they appeal it based on medical necessity.

    Ours is covered as a medical supply. Our insurance company denied us repeatedly until we put it through as DME. Even then, it was a bit of a fight, but ultimately they covered it.

    What formula is it?

    We have ours delivered through Edgepark Medical. They were excellent in helping us deal with our insurance company and they mail the formula to our door once a month.

    I called my insurance, and then our prescription company and our dr. wrote a letter.  We get ours from our pharmacy.  From what I read online each state has different regulations.  Some states require it to be covered by insurance, others don't.  Luckily my state requires insurance to cover it if LO has a milk / soy protein intolerance.

    Do you have a pediatric connections where younger? They were our go-between. The doc wrote up what was needed and pediatric connections got it covered. They will also be the company to deliver a months worth to our door. We found out yesterday we needed Alimentum, and we should get our delivery tomorrow!I am in VA if it helps you search the company to see if you have the same or something similar.
