For Mother's Day a couple of years ago, I found online a company that makes giant fortune cookies (like the size of your head!) and decorates them in candy and chocolate and you can customize the fortune inside. I got mom one in pink and white chocolate and put a fortune inside about how grateful I am to have her in my life.
I like the pictures ideas. I'm also a big fan of making gestures in return for physical gifts, like for instance cooking someone dinner or taking them out to eat to celebrate/say thank you.

I think pictures of her history as a mom (and maybe the start of your history as a mom) could be a sweet keepsake that requires thought and lets her know just how awesome she is to you. In the meantime, I think a good hug and a verbal "thanks mom" will at least give you time to come up with something you feel is more adequate.

My mom is the same way, she goes out of her way to watch DS for us and help us in everyway possible. She cooks for us when we have a crazy week, she supports me through everything and I couldn't imainge doing the mom thing without her support. Her birthday is the day after my scheduled c-section and she will be bringing my DS by the hospital for a visit. I ordered this for her as a birthday present and I'm having the seller put in birthstones of all her kids and grandkids:
I know she will love it. I gave her a simple locket for my wedding and she wears it all the time. She loves meaningful jewelry even if it's not expensive. Plus she shares a birthstone with my new LO so she will be represented on there as well. There are a ton of mother's necklaces and rings on etsy that can be specially customized and many are not super expensive, but would be meaningful.
Re: Any gift ideas for my Mom?
What about a digital photo frame filled with pictures and include a couple of you and your mom when you were a baby?
