DS is allergic to peanut, almond, cashew, pistachio, walnut (and also egg white and coconut). He was not tested for Hazelnut. Do you think it's safe to try? Does anyone have a LO who can or cannot eat it with similar allergies?
I would not try it. My DS is allergic to peanuts and tree nuts and I often hear that nuts have a high probability of cross contamination with other nuts, so even if he wasn't allergic to hazelnuts (which I can't remember to be sure), I wouldn't expose him. If you are looking for a peanut butter alternative, we use Sunbutter a lot and my DS loves it. My husband and I eat it too. It has a similar taste and texture to peanut butter, but is made frum sunflower seeds.
I wouldn't risk it. DD tested positive for a lot of nuts, and her allergist said she needs to avoid all of them, even the ones that did not come back positive. The risk is too great.
DS#2 tested positive for pistachio and cashew. He's negative for all other nuts. He LOVES Nutella and started eating it before we knew about his nut allergies.
I would hold off but you might consider adding hazelnut to his RAST or skin test next go 'round.
According to the FAQ on their website, Nutella does not come in contact with peanuts or peanut products during manufacturing. Just an FYI.
My twins are 5! My baby is 3!
DS#2 - Allergic to Cashew, Pistachio, Kiwi
DS#3 - Allergic to Milk, Egg, Peanut, Tree Nuts and Sesame

I'm now tempted!
EDIT - temptation is gone.. i just realized it has milk and soy.. maybe one day.
Re: Nutella
I would not go near nutella.. IMO tree nuts are tricky b/c they have a ton of cross contamination involved.
MY son has a peanut allergy and i wouldn't touch it.

if you want to make your own. I'm thinking of trying it with almonds since i know those are safe for my LO and it has no milk/soy in it.
