Hello all,
Since it is getting colder out, I am wondering if DD needs shoes yet or at least a pair to wear in the car or if we decide to go play in snow. I know that it is not recommended for babies to wear shoes when they are learning to walk and I know she doesn't really need them. I was thinking we could put them on her to go out to keep her feet warm, i.e. she's wear them *to* DCP, but we'd take them off when we got there. Otherwise, DCP would leave them on her all day. Thoughts? When did your LO start wearing shoes, first?
Also, I'll take footwear recs, too
Thanks!
Re: Shoes for a 9 month old?
Have you checked out Robeez? They have a variety of sole styles, but they're known for their leather soft soles "shoes." They're basically like leather slippers. We kept DS in a pair while he was learning to walk and wanted to stand/cruise everywhere and they certainly didn't impede his walking at all. I highly recommend them, plus they come in tons of cute designs.
Another option, if you just want to keep her feet warm and covered, would be to get some kind of fleece booties. Old Navy has some in both the newborn and toddler sections - DS had a pair from the newborn section last year and they were basically just entirely fleece. The pair I got him this year (for wearing at home and in the car b/c he refuses to keep socks and shoes on) are from the toddler section and have a suede sole that gives more grip.
... every single day of forever.
I haven't posted in forever. I can't seem to get on and post anymore.
But I figured I would jump in on this.
My DS, 9 mos this week, has rarely!! worn shoes. Lately since it was getting colder and closer to walking I thought I should invest some time in it. DS likes to curl his toes so I really struggle to get shoes on, plus he has extra wide feet apparently. So I went to stride rite and got the robeez. I like them a lot, and he doesn't seem to be messing with them. And the stretchy-ness helps to get them on when he is curling the toes. They were $20 at stride rite.
ditto the Robeez- LL Bean also makes a similar version. They are essentially like soft leather socks. Often times I would put my LOs in them w/o socks.
Pedipeds are another soft leather bottomed brand shoe. These type of shoe allow the toes to still curl, etc.
I kept my kids in this type of shoe (or no shoes if we were at home) until they were pretty stable walkers.
