I very rarely give LO Tylenol but she has a tooth coming through and is in a lot of pain. She is 8 months and about 22 pounds. Does anyone know the correct dosage? Thanks!
They recently changed the dosing system so be very careful with the advice you get on here. You need to make sure you are talking about the same concentration of the drug. Also, you might want to consider infant Motrin/Advil - works faster and longer.
Call your pedi and get further clarification...you don't want to overdose on acedomediphen (sp) nor do you want to underdose.
For childrens Tylenol the amount is different from infant. Determin which one you have.
Children's Tylenol/acedomediphen - 160millgrams per 5milleters (1 tsp)
A baby your size would need 140millgrams
Infant Tylenol - is about 80millgrams per .8 milleters
A baby your size would need a dropper and a half (roundabouts)
I really hate giving medicine to J when I don't know the correct dose, bottomline call your pedi...they would be happy to help.
RE: Motrin - the dosages for motrin are different then tylenol. I've only used motrin a couple of times and it was not as effective on J then the tylenol...your LO is different so it might work for them.

A call to the Pedi may be a good idea to make sure he/she recommends the same but ours recommended that for Children's Tylenol (Acetaminophen) the suspension should be 80mg per 1/2 tsp ( 160mg per 5ml) and the dosage was 2.5 ml every 4 to 6 hrs AS NEEDED. I hope this helps!
