Our LO doesn't get how to pick up finger food and put it into her mouth. Of course if she found something on the floor that immediatly goes into her mouth. How did you help teach LO to use their hands to eat?
We started giving a hanful of puffs or cheerios every night after dinner. It gives him something to do while we finish our dinner and practice makes perfect. At first, not a single one made it in his mouth (which the dogs loved) but now he's a pro.

Just let him(her?) practice. If he has skills to do it on the floor then he can do it with food as well. Like the pp said, start giving him pieces of waffle or something to practice with and within a week I bet he'll have it down.
Well, we put her at the table and just started eating ourselves. She kinda just looked at us and saw us putting food in our mouths, so she tried it. Since we are doing BLW, the food isn't for actual nutrition right now...food under one is just for fun. So she's exploring textures, tastes, and getting the mechanics down on how to feed herself. I would just let LO explore the food and see if they "get" it. I'm sure once they see you eat it they will understand.
I poured a few of those puffs on her tray and then i picked one up and actually nibbled on the edge of it. she thought that was so funny and picked one right up and put it in her mouth. Sometimes she still struggles to get them in her mouth but it's good practice to just give her a few and let her try herself.
