N keeps getting a rash on his poor little bum
We use cotton/hemp fitteds about 50% of the time and pockets the other 50% of the time. MH usually uses the fitteds and I use the pockets. The fitteds stay wet against him but he gets changed really frequently with them - once an hour least. With pockets, he'll go a little longer and we use pockets overnight but they keep him pretty dry even when the insert is soaked.
I'm not sure why he keeps getting these rashes - aren't they supposed to be less common with CDs?? I have been using Grandma El's and Earth Mama Angel Baby rash ointment and they usually clear up pretty quickly - within a few hours - but always seem to come back.
Any suggestions? I feel so bad for him!!
Re: CD moms - I need diaper rash help!
What pockets are you using?
I've heard that microsuede can be irritating to sensitive bottoms.

OK try BOOTY BALM. if you go to nickisdiapers.com and look it up under ointments or something it will come up. I use it on EVERYTHING for claire and it cleears it all up quickly!!! It is CD safe as well.
When do you see his rash appear most? after long sleep stretches? maybe try putting stuff on him before he goes to bed? He could just have extra sensitive skin. Claire is CD, but we do tend to see a little bit of a rash in the morning, but when i put booty balm on it, it clears up by the next diaper change.
What detergent are you using? Like pp said, some babies can develop a sensitivity to suede cloth (in bumgenius pockets) and microfleece.
I have so many different ones. No micro suedes though. Or at least I don't think they are. I have BG3s and BG4s, Blueberries, 1 Kawaii, 2 RaRs Maybe a couple others I can't remember. He's always in a Blueberry overnight.
I will get some booty balm. Thanks! We do have decent luck with Grandma Els and EMAB but it can't hurt to try another. He is actually usually cleared up first thing in the morning. It mostly appears throughout the day.
The first set I made, I used the anti-pill fleece from Jo-Ann, and they repelled like crazy! They have now been relegated to dust rags. I asked about it on the CD board and the responses I got said I needed to make sure to use microfleece, which apparently isn't sold at Jo-Ann.
Sounds like it might be the suede cloth though, since he clears up overnight in the Blueberry dipes. Ugh...I hope for your sake it's something else! I love my BG 4.0s
ETA: I also LOVE my elementals...we have 7 and I'm ready to order more! But I always put a liner on them to help keep him dry.

Could you make a small liner to go in your BG's so that the BG material isn't touching your LO's skin? That would be an alternative to having to get rid of them I think.
My LO tends to get red if I haven't rinsed all of the detergent out thoroughly. I use Tide Ultra and have to run a ridiculous number of rinse cycles to stop seeing soap bubbles, but if I get lazy and don't do it, he has more trouble with irritation. The detergent balancing act is a pain - if I use less, everything is kinda stinky, but if I use a good amount of it it takes forever to get it all out.
I know it's a big no-no in babyland now, but I've also found that powder really helps to kill a rash before it starts. I have a small bottle of it and use it carefully so that we're not breathing in big clouds of it.
Good luck!
In our experience, nothing works better than naked time! She had this awful looking rash awhile back, and we put a little Desitin on it and then let her air out for awhile and it was almost gone by the end of the day.
Good idea!
