Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Night feeding issues

I've created a monster! My ds is 6 months old and he used to sttn at 4 months old when we did CIO. Recently the past two wks he's been waking up in the middle of the night looking for a bottle and I was giving him it. Now he's waking up earlier & earlier for a bottle and trying to get him back to sttn. What do I do? Do I give him the bottle in the middle of the night or have him CIO??

Re: Night feeding issues

  • I know this probably isn't the response you were looking for but it is really up to you. My DS has only sttn on a few random occassions.  We used CIO to get him down to one feeding at 5 1/2 months.  Now if he wakes before midnight we CIO (but not really since he doesn't cry he usually just talks and plays for a few minutes).  Then whenever he wakes after midnight we feed him once and then CIO any time after that feeding.  We are slowly decreasing the amount of formula  in the bottle.  We are down to offering three ounces.  Hope that helps some.

  • Might be a growth spurt or maybe he isn't getting as much formula as he needs during the day due to the addition of solids.  Either way I'd feed him once them let him work it out from there.
