  My DD is 7 months and loves her Lamaze toys (Buzz the Bug, Freddie the Firefly, Jaques the Peacock, Jitterbug, and the Peek-a-boo Cube). Also, if you don't have a Jumperoo or Doorway Jumper, that's a good thing to have.

  The top selling toys list on amazon.com is helpful.  My DD has some of these and loves them.  I told people which ones she does not have, and they are going to get her those.  And some clothes since she keeps growing out of everything!

  I like how they are sorted by popularity, and they often have another list of toys that they recommend.  Also, DD loves the crawl ball, and that's not on the list.

  DD loves the Fisher-Price Peek-a-Boo stacking blocks. They have a few different sets. She loves it when I stack them all up so that she can knock them over and giggle.

  I second the light up snail, DS LOVES it. He also really loves blocks right now, I bought this set of 6 and they're big and plush. He's also obsessed with and has been for months with his baby einstein musical/lights thing....well anything with music really.

  DS is loving his soft blocks, an abacus, a dump truck to load up his toys in, and for some reason keys, lots and lots of baby key sets in this house. He also adores any rolling toy that we can roll back and forth on the floor.
