If you've had a Rhogam shot

Where on your body did they give it to you? With DS #1 I had my 28 week shot in the arm. Then after he was born I got another shot in the leg. Today I went in to get my 28 week shot and they gave it to me in the butt cheek. Did you have a choice on where you got yours, or is it just the nurse/doctor's preference.

From what I remember the one in the leg hurt the worst.

I got it in my hip/butt I guess it would be, and I didn't even feel it go in. I wish they gave all shots there!

When I got mine for my miscarriage they let me decide between the hip/butt and the arm. For my 28 week appt. I didn't have a choice and it was in the hip/butt area and burned and bruised pretty bad.

Generally they need to be intra-muscular and the arm/thigh/butt all are spots for that. The butt is the biggest muscle of those. I'm an RN (not ob) and I try to talk my patients into getting their intra-muscular shots there. I got my flu shot in the butt and never felt it nor was it sore.

Same. And it hurt! One time it sent a shock down my leg! Luckily its super quick!

I had mine yesterday & was given the option of arm or butt. I chose butt, it stung for a few minutes afterwards but hasn't been sore since then.

How long did your appointment take? I was sent to the hospital to have mine, I was in their office for 3.5 hours which I thought was ridiculous. I had a blood draw when I arrived, then waited 3 hours for the lab work to come back, then had the shot & then 30 minute wait to make sure I didn't have a reaction.

I got one at 6 weeks and was given it in my butt/hip The nurse said it was pretty standard here because it's where it hurts the least.

I got another at 28 weeks with a different nurse and she gave it to me in my arm, she said it didn't matter where they put it it would still hurt.

I didn't really think either hurt and didn't get sore/bruised with either one.

I got mine in the upper arm. When I went for the shot, the nurse asked me if I knew what I was getting and why, so I told her what I knew and then mentioned that it has to be injected into my butt cheek. She said we can do it there but we can also do it in the arm. I opted for the arm and it really didn't hurt.

After a m/c at 7 weeks it was in my arm. At my 28 week appt. it was in my butt. I asked why it wasn't in the arm again (it was the same nurse) and she said "Oh I'd never give Rhogam in the arm!" Uhhhhh..... yeah you would.

Rhogam is one of those that just has to be a in a big muscle, so I think it depends on the build of the person and the preference of the nurse giving the shot. Mine was in my arm, but I've got enough muscle and such in my arm to accommodate such a hefty shot. I was sore for about 15 minutes and then it was no big deal.

Are you sure? I've read the drug information from the FDA and it specifically says "For intramuscular use only, do not inject intravenously" (https://www.drugs.com/pro/rhogam-ultra-filtered-plus.html)

With 2 pregnancies I have had 4 shots with 4 different offices-2 in hip, 2 in the arm. I have always thought the arm ones hurt much more than the hip.

Mine was in the arm.

They did give me a choice.

I've gotten it twice and both times it was in my butt. Didn't hurt at all. I was standing the second time and I put all my weight on my opposite leg... someone on TB recommended that and I do think it helped!
