Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Sorry.. a baby food question.

So I feel alittle lost when it comes to baby food. I just dont know how much he should be eatting and what types of food he should be eatting. What are your LO's actually eatting for baby food. LO will be 7 months old tomorrow and he has been eatting baby food since like 5 months.

He eats (and I make it all)

Apples, pears, avocado, bananas, butternut squash, carrots, mangos, sweet potato..

I think he needs more veggies.

Also the doctor told me at his 6 month appointment that he can have meat and he even said that he can have like little tiny bit size bits of chicken or ground beef, As long as its smaller then his pinky. I have yet to give him anything like this because I guess mainly I'm afraid of him choking. And what do you do just bake a plain boneless skinless chicken breast?

Im sorry if this is all so confusing, I just feel like i'm not doing enough.

If anyone had any good books they can recommend that would be great too!!

Thanks all and sorry about the spelling mistakes.. i just suck at spelling.

  • My DD is a little over 6 months old and has been eating food since she was just over 4 months.  About a week ago she decided that she wanted what was on our plate.  She had chicken nuggets (given to her whole), a burger (small patty made for her put between toast slice), green beans, pasta, toast, and chicken.  She does really well, we allow her to feed herself and she's never choked, she has gagged a few times.  Gagging is a little scary for me, but it doesn't seem to bother her at all, and she does it less and less the more she eats.

  • At out 6 month appt my pedi said to start feeding DD Cheerios or puffs.  It is supposed to help her develop her pincer grasp.  Now she is obsessed with puffs.  I'm going to make a chicken soup with some peas, carrots, chicken broth, and chicken, and puree it.  I think we will both have that for dinner, and I will make some corn bread to go with it for myself and DH.

We also moved to oatmeal cereal instead of rice cereal with no problems.  She had an allergy to spinach, of all things.  I hear it's good to introduce one new thing at a time and try it for a few days to make sure it is okay with their system- That's how we figured out the spinach allergy.  We might also try some cherries soon.  She pretty much loves anything mushy enough to get in her mouth, whether it's food or not!

  • For breakfast DS gets some Cheerios, toast, or a waffle; a piece of fruit; and some yogurt. For dinner he gets some kind of meat and some veggies. Usually chicken (I buy a family pack and marinate/cook it on Sunday and use it throughout the week for different meals, including DS's) and steamed veggies like carrot sticks, broccoli, peppers, parsnips, etc. He feeds himself and does just fine. I keep giving him food until he starts throwing it on the floor, which usually means he's done eating and just wants to play.

How do you store the chicken?  How long will it stay good for?  If you have any simple recipes to share, please do.  This is a good idea!
