DD is starting to REALLy stall when it comes to getting into her car seat. When I have the time, it's not such a big deal - but I usually don't. She'll sit NEXT to it and insist on sitting there, or she'll think that she should sit in the front, or she will do it all in super slow motion. I've tried bringing a favorite toy and not letting her have it until she's in her seat, bribing w/ sticker chart stuff, and trying to "time" her to see how fast she can do it. All of that stuff worked the first 3 or 4 times and then it stopped. I'm running out of ideas and I really need her to help me out b/c I'm only getting bigger and my patience is getting very very thin. I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to physically put her in the seat myself and I highly doubt that will any easier when I have a newborn too.
Any ideas I have not tried?
Re: help w/ car seat battles?
I'm in the same boat, picking up H and putting him isn't a picnic already. Luckily, he's usually ok with getting in himself.
When he's not in the mood (and I can usually tell before hand) I'll set the timer. I tell him we have to get in the car as soon as the duck quacks. This works even if I'm running late. I just set it for 1 minute and really I could be fighting for much longer
We like the timer and he responds really well with it in all sorts of mammy is ready to go situations
