OT: Is anyone here okay with beauty pageants? (Toddlers and Tiaras)

The show just makes me cringe, just can't imagine putting false teeth in Hadley's mouth so she could be judged..... just can't imagine. Or having her eyebrows waxed at 3 years old, or spray tanned, or any of the other things. I don't watch the show, I can't but see it from time to time while flipping channels.

  • I would be ok with the ones that they just put on a pretty dress and walk across stage.  Although I won't be seeking any out either.  Completely changing their appearance and all that other jazz is not ok with me.

This. I don;t understand how they judge these girls on their beauty when they don't look that way all the time.

Me and you both... it truly is like watching a train wreck. The moms in the background acting like idiots, just too much of everything. I cant' imagine thinking that was normal and acceptable.

  • Absolutely not. Yuck. Children are perfect just the way God made them.

  • Heck no! There is something wrong with doing that to your little, innocent, beautiful child. It makes me cringe as well!

  • I watch that show all the time! I love it. I would never put my daughter in a pageant though- unless she was older, and asked to be, and even then we would pass on the fake teeth/tans/boobs/etc- and I feel bad for some of the little girls that don't seem to really enjoy it.

Most of the time you can tell the moms just REALLY wanted to be in pageants themselves (or they were, and are passing on their "legacy").

  • its never ok for adults to judge children on the way they look.  especially when theyre wearing fake teeth/hair/body parts.  talk about sending the wrong message to a kid when you dress them up like that and then put them on stage to be judged.  that show makes me very sad.  its all about the parents.
