Sleeping on Tummy

Ok DD can't flip back to her back after she gets on her tummy, but what do I do if she goes to sleep on her tummy? Do I leave her? Flip her? I just flipped her while she was napping. What a hellish mistake.

Re: Sleeping on Tummy

  • I leave her, but I also place her on her tummy and have since she was two weeks.  Once they can get to their tummy on their own it is ok to leave them.

  • Once they can roll themselves over onto their tummy its okay to let them sleep that way.  Continue to place LO on their back when you put them down, but if they flip over then you can leave them.  DS much prefers his tummy so I know he will sleep so much better once he masters this skill.

  • I'd leave her. But, my DD has been sleeping on her tummy since birth (the first three days we were skin to skin). She only very recently started being okay with occasionally sleeping on her back.

  • Both of my kids slept on their tummies, and DD currently does. If they are back sleepers and roll on their belly, leave them be. It's fine.
