Should I be starting LO on a sippy? She 6 months 1 week old. I hadnt' thought much about it but it seems like a lot of people are starting their babies! What do you think? Are you/have you started?

Re: Should I??
I would always see posts of people starting at 4 months, and I just thought that was early. But the sippy cups I had bought from my registry started at 6 months, so I figured I would start then just for practice. But with starting veggies then too (we started cereal at 5 months and veggies at 6 months) I didn't actually do it. So our LO will be getting his first sippy this week at 7 months. I figure that is fine, especially since he doesn't get a bottle as often because I nurse when I am home from work in the afternoon/evening and on the weekend. But I think all LO's will develop the interest on their own, and I'm not going to stick to a set thing where he "should" be getting the sippy now or "should" be good at it by such and such month.
This.
We started around 6 months. I thought DD should have water with her solid meals. The first couple times I took the valve out so the water just poured out so DD would know what was in it. Once the valve was in, she mostly just chewed on the spout until she accidentally sucked it once and water came out. It took a few accidental sucks for her to learn suck=water, and by now she's a pro (well almost - she holds it but I have to help her tip it up).

We started at 5 months because she just loved taking sips of my water. Now her sippy cup is her favorite thing. She maybe drinks like 2-3 ounces of water but boy does she have fun doing it. Last night she discovered that she could get water on her head by banging the nipple on her forehead.
