Food Allergy

NO Eggs, Wheat, or Nuts HELP!!

My son is allergic to eggs, wheat and nuts. It was easier to find something to eat when he was a baby, but now it is a struggle. What do you feed your tiny tot??

some of the GF is egg free- but I wouldn't say most of it (the better tasting stuff usually has eggs from what I've found).  Van's waffles and french toast sticks are great.  Glutino cereal bars are safe and delicious.  Enjoy life makes some great cookies that are top 8 free.  You can use "ener-g" egg replacer for baking.  Lots of the GF stuff has been trail and error to find things that taste good.

  • For age 1 and up you still have lots of options, actually. Any vegetable. Any fruit. Any meat or fish. Legumes (beans, peas). There are also plenty of grains besides wheat: rice, corn, oats, buckwheat, quinoa (if the issue is with gluten, you'll want to make sure these are GF to avoid contamination).
If you typically use pre-packaged foods, you might look into blogs and cookbooks that focus on cooking with whole foods, cooking from scratch, etc.
  • i started a blog for my son a while back but I suck at updating it LOL .  My son is allergic to wheat, eggs, dairy, peanuts and tree nuts and for a while --soy.  So I feel your pain.  It's easier than you think.

Anyways--there's a list in the earlier posts.  www.matthewsfood.blogspot.com

Things like quinoa pasta are a life saver and truthfully much more healthy than traditional pasta.  You can search baking without eggs--that's an easy fix as eggs really aren't necessary in a lot.

Try different gluten free breads----make sure there are no eggs.  We use brown rice or tapioca bread.

There are gluten free pretzels for snacks as well as oatmeal type granola bars, fruit snacks.

At least your LO can have things like cheese and yogurt which are helpful.

  • Udi's bread is really tasty.  The whole grain and white breads are free of eggs, wheat, nuts, dairy and soy.  I am a Celiac and breastfeeding my son who is intolerant of nuts, dairy, and soy.  I love the bread toasted with some sunflower seed butter and jelly!

All Udi's products actually contain egg whites.
