After some clean-up and a quick change, we did our family tradition for 1 yr olds - you present them with a book, a silver dollar, a rosary and a shot glass and whatever they choose is supposed to be their "fate." Charlotte started off with the book:

All in all, everything went really well. Party started at 1 and we had way too much food, of course. Everyone seemed to like the soups so that was nice. I did have to send DH up to the corner store to buy some more diet pop, but no big. My mom stayed until about 6:30 or 7 and helped me clean the whole kitchen and do all the dishes, DH's family did not offer to help once, but instead stayed until 9pm (DD went to bed at 7:45) squatting in my living room. Both DH's brothers (and their sig others) stayed overnight. While I was cleaning up, MIL proceeded to undress DD and put her in the party dress she bought her, which I was pretty annoyed with but I kept quiet because whatever I said wasn't going to be nice. Charlotte got some really nice gifts, but so far her favorite has been the box that MIL brought her presents in, filled with some ball pit balls. Which I find extra funny because MIL bought her some ridiculous ball pit with Disney princesses plastered all over it (even though I told her we planned to just use our baby pool so we really only needed the balls, thanks). And DD did really well especially considering she only napped for about 45 mins all day - she was a champ!

Your decorations look nice, it looks like a fun time! Your mil is so weird - why would anyone think it is ok to just randomly change someone else's kid into clothes they brought over? Are they all gone yet? Rest up!

ADORABLE decorations!!! Looks like C had a GREAT time! She's already smart, chooses the book first, because that's what everyone WANTS her to choose, but really, she's ready for a drink and to go shopping!

True female at heart! hahah Love that tradition!
