Olivia or other iPhone users

I saw your post about updating the software...  Please help!  This is my first smartphone, and sometimes it makes me feel really stupid.  :)  I plugged the phone into the computer, which is what I was told to do to update it, but I don't think it did anything.  I don't notice a difference at all.  What am I supposed to do?

    When I plugged it in, I first had to update my iTunes, since my version was old. Then your phone should sync with your computer and show up on the list on the left hand side. You select it and you should have an option to "Update" - once you click on that, it will start the download. It tells you it could take an hour or more, so choose a time when you won't need to leave or something.

    I would back up your phone first.  Go into iTunes, download the latest version, then hook up the phone.  When it shows up on the left, right click it and select "Back Up."  Then you can download the update with the new operating system.  Downloading an update can mess up your phone, so that's why I would back up first.  If you had any problems, you could follow the same steps, except you would right click the phone and select "Restore from Backup."

    I just plug my phone into the usb port in my computer and they transfer over for the pictures. But I did want to second backing up your phone. I ran the update and lost all of my pictures and apps. I did get them back but what a pain in the butt!
