I was the same way until I went to babybedding.com by Carousel Designs. They have some really cute stuff, but the best thing is you can use their fabrics and custom design the bedding the way you want it for not real expensive. Don't get me wrong, it is pricier than say Target or BRU but still affordable. They will send you free fabric samples before you confirm your order so you can be sure than you like the fabrics just as much in person as you do online.
Restoration Hardware Baby - LOVE it, great quality, super soft and washes up great. I also highly recommend their towels/washcloths.
We looked EVERYWHERE and couldn't find anything. Normally I'm a diehard Pottery Barn fan but their boys line is pretty blah, plus I wasn't overly impressed with the softness of their sheets.

I love Pottery Barn Kids bedding. I have been using the same bedding set for two years now and it still looks brand new. Great quality and I like that you can buy it piece by piece instead of buying an entire bedding set and not being able to use some of it.
Also love my Pottery Barn Kids set, we got the jungle friends for my son and will reuse for future boys. We will definitly buy there again this time if it's a girl. Really soft, and great quality, plus it's cotton instead of polyester which a lot of other sets are made of.
Amazon.com. We found it originally at a local baby store (Great Beginnings) and then I watched its price at BBB and Amazon. When it went on sale at Amazon, I jumped on it.
Since a fitted sheet is all that's recommended, I bought a couple from Target online & then a couple more from a consignment sale, along with crib mattress protectors. Not getting the crib set saves $$$ and since the bumper & quilt aren't recommended, we figured - why buy them?
Re: Where did you buy your crib bedding from?
We found ours at BRU. I also looked at Target.
Do you have something specific in mind? If so do a google or yahoo search for ________ crib bedding.

My mom "had to" get us crib bedding and we ended up with a set from WalMart...because that's where my mom shops.
Had I picked it myself, I would have probably used Etsy to do something modern.

My mom made mine (kind of)!
We bought a cute dorm bedding set, cut it into bumpers and a blanket. It's super cute. Once we move and get the nursery put together I'll post pics.
