1st business trip away from DS...

I have a 2 night business trip away from DS coming up in a week and I'm a wreck(i'm pregnant too, so that doesn't help!) I hate the thought of leaving him, and the fact that he's not quite 2 and doesn't understand where i'll be going or why I won't be there at night for him. I know its only 2 nights, but for those who have been there/done that, any tips? Was it better/worse than you thought? I know it probably won't be a big deal but I am dreading this so much :(

  • I just traveled twice last month.  Skyping is great.  Or get one of those hallmark books where you can record your voice and "read" to him.  So cute!!!  Oh and presents when you come home!!  It's harder on you then him.  Plan some spa time if you have some extra time and enjoy the quite.

  • Reframe your thinking "what a great chance for DS and DH to have bonding time.  What a great chance for DH to realize he CAN do it all.   What a great chance to let DH walk that proverbial mile in my shoes and perhaps this can lead to greater empathy.  What a nice time for me to be able to sleep the night and have a long shower and maybe even read a book."

Honestly, I don't travel much, about 2x-4x a year right now on average.  DH travels more.  The kids are fine.  They have their routine, the present parent is a little more lax in travel time so while the kids are happy to see me when I return, it is not devastating.  2 nights will be just fine for him and great one on one time with dad.
