Tonight I decided to start letting back learn to self soothe. Unfortunately I decided after his afternoon nap & just thought I would try for night time.
Our regular routine (without letting LO self soothe) consisted of us having one angry baby sitting in his bouncer while we ate dinner around 7 pm. He eats dinner around 6 pm & wakes up for a bottle at about 10 or 11 pm each night. While we eat, he is fine until we give eye contact. Once we finish eating, I rinse dishes & put them in the dishwasher while H hold's baby & comforts him. Once I'm done, I will usually grab him & H will get in the shower. I will rock LO in the rocker & pat his back. He falls out at about 8 pm & I put him in crib. He's back up in between 10 & 11 for hislast bottle & then STT(restof)N.
Tonight's routine - I made dinner a little bit earlier & we ate around 6:30 pm. I let him have tummy time on the rug in the living room & we ate in the living room so he could be supervised. After I did the dishes as I usually do them, H handed LO over. I put him in his crib & rubbed his head for a few seconds, kissed his check, gave him his paci, & left the room. Of course he cried.
After 3 minutes, I went in. Rubbed his head & kind of patted the mattress. He stopped, so I gradually slowed down rubbing his head & patting the mattress. I walked out. He started crying again, so I went in after 5 minutes with the same technique. I left & was back in the room after 10 minutes. The same tecnique & he was quiet. After that, he was crying again.
I waited 12 minutes & he was not crying!! I didn't wanna go in & wake him or him be awake & just done crying. So I waited for about 10 more minutes, without crying, & then decided to check on him. He was asleep!!! Wow!!
Hope we can finally get him to fall asleep on his on
Re: Bed-time was horrible!
I meant for me, haha. Sorry! Should've clarified. I know it was successful, it was just so sad to not be able to hold LO while he cries
I know it's for the best though.
