One of the moms in my playgroup is soy and dairy free for her nursing daughter. I am wanting to make cookies for playgroup this week which call for butter. I'm wondering if there are soy/dairy free "butters" that work pretty well for baking? I know Crisco is usually a fine substitute, but it has soybean oil. TIA!

Can you find a recipe with oil instead of butter? I always had such poor success baking with the synthetic tub butters, but it does seem like most of the allergy-friendly recipes want you to use something hard.
I used this to make frosting for allergy free chocolate cake. It was fantastic!
