Thunder kicks while sleeping?

DS will be 3mths tomorrow, and he has this happen of infrequently but loudly, kicking his feet while sleeping.  This was much more frequent when he was younger, but never every night consistant.  I am just wondering if anyone else has had a LO who kicks.  I am trying to figure out, too, if it is gas related.  We also have to cover his hands because no matter how short I try to keep his nails, he usually ends up with a new scratch if I don't.

    allo my son has been doing the thunder kick since about your little one age and he still does it hes happy and relaxed when he wakes up in the morning

    DS does this EVERY night. It's usually either when he is first falling asleep or right before he is about to wake up. We can no longer co-sleep very often because he tends to like to turn sideways in the bed & kick me in the stomach. lol

    same here, our lo kicks alot, so much it scoots him to the end of the crib.  also i cant clip his nails, so i file them everyday with my larger file-not a fake nail file, but not the emory board style.
