Breastfeeding

do I nurse or tell her no?

my DD (9months) self weaned 2 months ago, I am still producing milk but definetly not enough to satisfy her at this point.

Now she is tugging on my shirt whenever she is hungry and she has even tried to latched on twice this week.

My questions are, do I try to nurse her? and try to get my supply back up? Or do I tell her "no"?

TIA!

  • Sounds like you miss read a nursing strike for self weaning.  Give her the boob if you want to try BFing again.  Otherwise, give her a bottle when she starts tugging.

  • I would let her nurse when she wants to nurse. You will begin to produce milk for her again (from what I've heard!). Since it sounds like you don't have a lot of milk, make she she's getting formula or something else to supplement, but I would try to nurse before giving something else.

This. Babies don't self-wean that early. They go through phases of being distracted, refusing to nurse often due to teething pain, develop a bottle preference if they get bottles a lot... I'd nurse her if she wants to. Your supply will probably eventually come back.

  • If you're okay with nursing her still, do it! I agree that I'd keep up with the formula at first, though.
