Moms of heavy wetters/boys

Hi ladies. I don't post on here often but I have been with you since we all started here. I read everyday and you ladies have given me so much good advice even though you might not know it.

Something I haven't seen posted though is a problem I'm dealing with right now. My son has all of the sudden become a heavy, heavy wetter at night time. When he was smaller he would sometimes not even pee at all when he was sleeping and would wake up dry (he would soak through his diapers withing 10 minutes of being awake though). He certainly never leaked through a regular diaper at night. Well now he seems to just want to pee from the moment he goes down until he gets up. I'm not sure if he's drinking more or what. I went and bought huggies overnights (we normally use pampers) and he still leaked through!

Does anyone else deal with this issue? What do you do? What do you use? He doesn't go back to sleep all that well in the night so I try not to rouse him any more than just nursing but I feel like I'm going to have to start changing him once or twice a night.

Thanks ladies! Hope everyone has a great day!

Re: Moms of heavy wetters/boys

  • We had some issues like this a couple of months ago so we put him in the next size up diapers overnight and that helped.  He was in size 1, so we would put a size 2 diaper on him overnight.  As you go up in sizes, the diapers are made to absorb more.

I also found huggies to leak more than pampers.  I've heard that pampers work better for boys. We had a lot of leaking issues with huggies with newborn/size 1 and haven't tried them since.

Agreed!  We've been using a bigger diaper at night.

Maybe you could try one of those plastic diaper covers?  Even though you're not CD, it would protect his PJs.  Like this:

  • DS is also a heavy wetter but CD so it's a different issue. Sorry, no advise from me but I wanted to say it might be a boys things Tongue Tied

  • Ditto on PPs suggestion to try a diaper cover over the disposable.

LO was with a babysitter tonight for a few hours and he put the CD diaper cover over a disposable when he put him to bed.  Kinda funny, but I thought about this post when I saw it.  It might work.

  • I agree. I think it might be a boy thing.

    Thank you ladies!

  • first. huggies dont even come in through our front door. they have always leaked and i only get pampers now. however, lately he has been peeing through the diapers when he takes long naps or at night. he sleeps on his stomach and when he gets up in the middle of the nights its almost always only because hes covered in pee. i started putting him in size 3's because i thought that might be better, and so far its worked perfectly and now hes back to sleeping through the night too since hes not all covered in pee and getting cold. :) hope that helps!
