Bottles, nipples, paci's, BP equipment.... boiling water on the stove and placing the items in the water for about 60 to 90 seconds. Even new items should be done which I didn't know with my first LO and panicked when some one mentioned after we had been at home for two days... using all that fun stuff! But they have also made a nifty little thing that you place the items in and stick in the microwave, it is supposed to sterilize as well. Some dish washers also have this feature, although I would probably only run baby stuff through at that time, besides the all the little things could pretty much fill up a dishwasher! GL hope it helps.
I never sterilized anything. The pedi in the hosp (who had his own special sense of humor) told me, when I asked about sterilizing "well, you don't boil your nipples before bfing....just wash everything in soap and water" hahaha, so that's what I did. I did buy some of those Medela microwave sterilzation bags for pump parts, and then I'd throw binkies in them too b/c it was easy. GL!

Basically anything plastic/glass that is going near baby. There are lots of ways to sterilize them. You could boil them, microwave them, put them in the dishwasher, or soak them for 2 mins in a solution of 2tbsp of bleach per gallon of water.

That's kind of weird because I mean your nipples aren't manufactured in a plant, shipped all over the world, and exposed to who knows how many chemicals either.

He was joking, making a point to say that soap and water will suffice!!! I also had the LC tell me that soap and hot water was plenty!

I'll probably just dump everything into the sink with lukewarm bleach water before I use them the first time. After that, I'll just use soap and water or toss them into the dishwasher basket. I'm not big on sterilizing.
I haven't thought about this much yet...but would it work to just throw everything in the dishwasher? Our dishwasher has a "sanitizing rinse" feature, which I use when I want to prepare jars for canning salsa, etc. I imagine that would be sufficient for baby items as well.

Would boil water.... throw in pacifiers and nipples for a minute or so.... For bottles, I'd pour boiling water into her bottle to rinse.
Do this when you first use new products and then I would do it every month or so. I wouldn't do it every time. Doctor said no need.
