DD is Evangeline so of course I love it. DD's mn is Mei. I agree though that if your DH isn't interested then I would try to look for something else but maybe something similar.

I like Evangeline and I've recently added it to my list (although not my siggy voting list yet...not prepared for that yet). It's a very big name and I'm not sure that I really would ever use it.
I think I like Evie as a nn for it the most!
I agree with the pps though. If your DH is not on board, I would keep searching.

I'm with everyone else - if your DH hates it, it's off the table. I loved Cordelia and Grainne for girls and DH hated both so they were off the list.
(For the record though, my niece is an Evangeline that goes by Eva. I never had heard the name before she was born and thought it was a little strange, but now I feel like I hear it a lot more often. Her middle name is Rose Marie.)
My LO's name is Evangalin Rae (Ev-an-ja-lynn). Both my husband and I liked Evangeline but he didn't care for the 'lean' sound at the end and he came up with Evangalin. I know most on this board would hate it but he fell he fell in love and after a month of still throwing out other names I realized how much I loved it too.
I would suggest some NN's to you DH and see if he likes any of them (Eva,Evie,Lena). If not, sadly I'd take it off and find a compromise.I do love the name though!

I want to love this name so bad because on paper, it is gorgeous. I was out at Walgreens the other day though and some mom was walking through the store calling out, "Evangeline!" "Evannngeline! Come here!" and it totally sounded to uppity to me. I cannot imagine constantly repeating that name to my child.
That being said, it is a beautiful name and I have considered using it as a middle name.
I love that name. But, if hubby hates it then you probably should keep looking... What about another French name like Vivienne- you could call her vivi :-)

Sorry for the late reply, just now getting back on here!
DH says he hates it because it sounds "uppity" but he likes the nickname Eva. I'm not just into Eva, so that's not a "go", but we will keep looking. He says he likes Anastasia Genevieve as a FN and MN, but it's sooo long. I love both names separately but not together. Any other suggestions?

I must say I'm loving your taste. If we have another DD she will be Anastasia to go with our DD Evangeline (nn Evie). I would lean towards a one syllable nn but honestly I think that two long names are fine as long as you don't plan on calling her by both all the time.

My SO is actually the one who chose Evangeline. It's a bit of a mouthful with his last name, so we bumped it to middle name. For some reason, our families HATE it. Foofoo for them, they had their own babies to name.
MNs we liked: the "go to" Rose, Pearl, Mae, Lily, and Jolie.

We both loved Evangeline - but not Eva. So we did you-neek it (gasp - that is right baby board haters) to Avangeline, and we call her Ava for short. We love it.
Re: Is Evangeline that bad
I like Evangeline, I would pair it with a short middle name like Mae.
If your DH hates it though, you should keep looking! GL!
I love love love Evangeline!! it was on my short list! We planned to call her Eva for as a NN Evangeline Catherine!
If DH hates it, there are alot of great names that you both will love. Run the Eva NN by him, most going with NN Evie or Vangie..I equally hate both!

I love it. DH's grandma is Evangeline and has never gone by a nickname.
If your DH hates it, I think you have to compromise and let it go though.

Evangeline is absolutely beautiful
If your DH has come out saying he HATES it though, you might want to give it up
