17 weeks...but I don't feel baby's movements =/

From most of the research I have done, 16 weeks is around the time most women feel the first movements from baby. I am 17 weeks, and have yet to feel anything...so I'm partially disappointed and also a little worried. I weigh 141 lbs., so I doubt it is because of weight issues. So I am curious, should I worry about this? Who has felt their baby move and when...I'm excited for you! And if anyone is in my boat...do you have the same concerns or are you more laid back and relaxed about this?

  • I'm almost 19 weeks and have felt nothing I'm confident has been baby. I'm a fairly small size 4. No idea what I weigh ;) it's annoying but my dr told me I may feel nothing for a few more weeks.

  • You have absolutely nothing to worry about! It can take up to 22 or even 25 weeks sometimes...so you've still got time! :]

  • I'm in the same boat - no movement yet.  However I have a doppler and use it a couple times a week.  Last night, for example, I kept the doppler completely still and you could hear the baby's movements (but I couldn't feel them).  So maybe it's just a little early.
  • I am 21 weeks and I still haven't felt movement, but I know LO is moving all around everytime we go for a Sono...just got my anatomy scan last week and he was moving like crazy :-)

    Thanks...wow that's a long time...especially for someone as impatient as I am.

P.s. Love the baby name =)

  • I haven't felt anything yet either. I do have a doppler and do that a couple of times a week for reassurance but the dr. didn't seemed concerned when I told him yesterday.
  • At my latest pre-natal group, our midwife said that it is normal to not feel anything until around 20-22 weeks.

Keep you head up.  It will come.  I just started to feel things, but I am on my 2nd, and I've been told that things happen sooner with #2.

  • I didn't feel DD1 until the 18/19th wk mark and it wasn't consistent until 20-something weeks.  I was nervous about it as well, so its natural to be concerned.

This time around I'm more relaxed about that, but its also my third pg - with twins - so I was able to feel them earlier.  Just hang in there.  It could be that the baby has his/her back out - facing the spine - which would keep you from feeling the movements.  My friend's daughter spent most of the pg in that position - drove her nuts since she would feel movement on some days but not others.

It all seems to take forever, yet after the event passes I can't believe how quickly it came..if that makes sense.haha. Baby will be keeping you awake with kicks before you know it :]

     & Thank you :]

  • I just had an appointment on Thursday with my doctor and I asked her the same thing. She said I shouldn't expect to feel anything until 22 weeks but that some women are lucky and feel it earlier.

  • 21 weeks tomorrow and I have maybe felt something in the last week, but I'm not even positive about it.
We said goodbye to our baby on November 16th...
  • When we did our a/s the other day, our tech said that it's completely normal not to feel movement up to 24 weeks. She was specifically referring to WTEWYE, but I think it applies here too. I know it's hard not to worry, but more than likely, everything is fine!

  • Don't worry! I'm 19 weeks and some change and I didn't feel a thing until yesterday! I was worried too, since I'm not overweight or anything - but some babies are just more chilled out than others.

  • I'm 20w1d and I *thought* I felt the baby a couple times but I'm not certain. I have an anterior placenta so I know it may take time. I know she's in there moving around, I get a doppler at every appt every 1-2 weeks and we can tell she's moving and I've had 4 ultrasounds and we watch her move like crazy. Do you know where your placenta is? Plus, as FTMs, it takes us longer too!

  • At my 16 week appt, my Dr told me most people (first time moms) don't feel anything til almost 20 weeks.

I've been feeling flutters since about week 15/16.

  • I"m alittle over 21 weeks and just starting to feel baby. Its about every other day when I'm laying/sitting really still. Typically when I'm drinking something more sugary than normal.

Everyone is like...oh come on, you have felt it but just didnt know what you were feeling. But I swear I havnt been like "Hmmmm I wonder if thats baby"?.

  • Nothing here.  Most of the women I know personally didn't feel anything until after 20 weeks.

  • I'm at 19 weeks (almost 20).  I first started feeling movement on Friday.  It's pretty awesome I have to say.  You'll get there.  Just hang in.  My OB told me it could be anywhere between 16 - 22 weeks.

  • Yep, I'm right there with ya. I thought maybe I have felt something a couple of times but I am very doubtful that it was actually the baby. My OB said it could take up to 22 weeks and not to worry.
