Babies: 3 - 6 Months

What's best for baby's face?

Currently using mustela face lotion and wipes with no problem but while I love the smell they seem way to fragrant! His skin is super dry and bumpy right now from all the drool wondering if there is a better product out there? I sometimes use aquaphor baby but it is so greasy and I worry about him rubbing it into his mouth and eyes

  • Our Neos pretty much recommended Aquaphor for everything.  It won't hurt him to get it in his mouth/eyes.

  • I've heard that Lanolin (typically used on sore nipples for breastfeeding mamas) can be used to moisturize baby's skin. It's nice to know that it is 100% safe if it does get into baby's mouth!

  • Second lanolin ointment.

I wipe my daughter's face with a warm wash cloth every night before bed and I think that has really helped keep her skin moisturized.

  • Lanolin is a great idea. Vaseline would work too. DS is a thumb sucker, and his thumb is chapped. His pedi suggested Vaseline, and said it was fine if he sticks his finger in his mouth with vaseline on it.

  • I used Weleda brand, Calendula face cream for babies at first, but the pedi recommended Vaseline Deep Moisture Creamy Formula.  I think they both work well for my LO; Weleda does have a plesant fragrance while the Vaseline Cream has no scent at all.  I think the Vaseline will be better for the cool fall/cold winter months (its thicker than then Weleda).  I hope this helps!

  • I use CABaby calendula...it seems to work. Otherwise just a plain washcloth seems to be the best.

  • When M has really dry patches I just use olive oil.  Works great.

  • CA baby Calundra cream is the best. it can take away the baby acne, smooth out any bumps, remove diaper rash in less than 12 hours and can help eczema. I love that stuff.
