Always wanting to be held

I am not complaining and I know they get to a point when they don't want to be held, but does your LO like to be held a lot or will he/she hang out in the chair/swing.

Re: Always wanting to be held

  • YES!!  I can barely get anything done!!

I have to return calls by putting her in the car seat and driving around.  She likes that!

  • About 90% of his awake time he wants to be held. He will do the swing, stroller, car seat or bouncer for 5-10 mins but that is it. Lil Man is 6 weeks today and he was a little better about being on his swing.... 30 mins :?).

  • My LO like to be held and loved on but she also loves to have her alone time, LOL. She starts getting squirmy on me and I'll put her on her Baby Einstein mat and she is all happy again!

Same here!  My son is 9 weeks old now, and although he's getting better about it with time, he still needs to be held most of the day. Before I had him, I was convinced I would be a stay-at-home supermom, who would be able to watch him and still get the whole house cleaned, dinner cooked, and laundry done before the hubby came home.  Now I laugh at that, and I have accepted the fact that for the time being, I am simply not going to get much done, and that's ok...I am enjoying this time with my little guy, because once it's gone, you can't get it back :)

P.S.:  The Moby Wrap is a godsend.  I put the baby in it and am able to wear him around the house while I attempt to clean up or cook dinner.  He feels close to me and secure, but my hands are free for as long as he's willing to tolerate being in the wrap.  If you don't have one, get one!

  • Our LO is held most of the time.  I would say only for maaaaaaaaybe 30 minutes a day (while I'm dressing, showering, eating and I have to set him down) is he in a bouncy seat or swing, etc.  And those 30 minutes, he's often fussing to be picked up.  And of course we don't hold him for nighttime sleep - but... he's in our bed most of the time.  It's the "4th trimester"...they still want to be with mama 24/7.  It's normal :) (IMO, and so I tell myself ;))
