Our 5 yr old son is allergic to peanuts and tree nuts. We are considering Walt Disney World as a vacation option and I'm interested in hearing experiences from those who've been there with a food allergic child. We're looking at including the quick-service dining plan and just want to be sure there will be enough safe options for DS if we go that route.
Re: Disney World with peanut and tree nut allergies?
It was more of an acquaintance, so I don't know the details. But this woman I know went to Disney World about 2 years ago. Her DD was having issues w/ dairy, and as she was still nursing - she couldn't eat dairy either.
They had filled out some paperwork when they got there (have no idea where they stayed, though) and there was a question about food allergies. She filled it out w/o even thinking about it, but after that, EVERY restaurant that they went to (where obviously they had a reservation because their names were known), the chef came out to their table, said he/she understood there was a food issue, then was like "here's what I can make for you and your DD".
She said it was an amazing experience and it made their trip so much easier.

i seriously can't wait until my son is old enough to enjoy a vacation there and if he still has allergies it will be a dream!

We were there this summer with my DD who has egg and peanut allergies and it was great. If you send them an email at specialdiets@disneyworld.com they will send you a list of restuarants and what food is safe even quick service and snack locations. Also, the chef does come out and talk to you about your options. It was great! We even still did a character breakfast and had a wonderful time. Have fun planning your trip.
