**Surfinbride** re: bday party

I'm curious to know what your DD decided.  I didn't write this in my reply, but I also wondered if she's growing in a different direction from your neighbor and basically ready to let the friendship lapse.

 

High School English teacher and mom of 2 kids:

DD, born 9/06/00 -- 12th grade
DS, born 8/25/04 -- 7th grade

  • Thanks for asking. The responses to the original post were helpful. I used many of the questions to explore it with her. She does not want to invite the friend primarily because she thinks she'll be bossy. I asked her to consider ways that we could avoid it... such as me laying ground rules and making sure that she didn't overstep her bounds. My daughter still said no.

    In the meantime, they are still friends. I find it odd.

  • My 11 y/o DD is in the process of deciding how to handle things with her former "best friend" from first grade.  They're still friends, but she's less and less interested in doing stuff with this other girl.
