I love the excitement for Fridays, (because they are still great because a lot of the world is done with their work week) but my DH is a resident physician and weekends SUCK for him/us. This weekend he works 7-7 both days, in fact, we have not had 2 days in a row off in.....I can't remember, 2-3 months maybe.
Anyone else not married to a 9-5'er/week day person? Or maybe you are not a weekday person?
Re: Who's not married to a 9-5'er?
My DH is a home builder so his hours are all over the place.
Back in 2005 it wasn't like this but now a days we most certainly have to revolve around our client. Ha! We actually have a client living with us while his house is being built!
I can't complain too much since I coordinate weddings and events which generally are weekend ordeals.
TTC since 2010

Thanks ladies, helps me feel like I am not the only one with a DH who works all the time. My DS is 15 months and has started crying hysterically when DH leaves for work, which doesn't help.
Oh well, such is life.

I work 11:30a-8p or 8a-4:30p depending on the day and b/f works 3p-11:30p. I usually nap for 2 hours before he gets home then get up and hang out with him. I have been doing this for 5 yrs, so I am used to it.
This week though I haven't been able to get up. I've slept from 9:30 till I have to get for work and am still tired during the day. Every once in a while my body tries telling me something, like "hey you need to sleep more".
MH does landscape so his schedule is pretty regular during the season, but in the winter he does snow removal. We live in Michigan, so winters like we had last year was pretty nuts. It can suck because he might work 24 hours straight, come home and try to get some sleep and then have to go out again a couple hours later....sometimes he gets his days and nights backwards depending on his schedule, so he'll be up till 4 or 5am and then sleep till 1pm.
It's like feast or famine, he'll work for weeks with crazy hours, and then it won't snow for weeks (which sucks for our bills). I know it doesn't compare to being without YH all the time, but I can sort of feel your pain a little.

This! Although it doesn't get light around here until 7 a.m. and gets dark by 7 p.m. so the days aren't quite so long. We also both work Saturdays at the farmers market, but we're working together which is fun.

I'm an RN who works 12 hour shifts (day/night rotation) in the hospital, including weekends and holidays. My husband works for the airport and works late evenings, including weekends.
I feel your pain!
I'm not married to a 9-5'er.
MH and I both work 24 hour shifts. Before April we had the exact same schedule, we worked every third day. I got a new job in April, and I still work 24 hour shifts, but now the pattern of my schedule is different than his. This week is one of the few where our work days lined up. August was horrible because we would go days on end without seeing each other. It was our 2nd month TTC so that just made it even more upsetting. I can relate to not having more than a day off in a row together. I'm sorry you're going through that.
I'm getting adjusted to it, and it helps that my schedule is better for me on a personal level, but I still get excited when we have a couple days off together.
I hope your schedules get better soon

Ditto - my H is a restaurant manager as well. He does get two days off a week, but they are rarely two days in a row. He will usually work three 8-5/6 shifts and two 8-8 shifts a week.
H and I work in retail, so neither of us is 9-5. I have every other weekend off and H usually has at least on day of the weekend off. We had to make ourselves unavailable on Wednesday so that we get at least one day together.
What really sucks are the days that I open and he closes-or vica vera- like today.
TTC: 8/11 BFP: 5/13 EDD:2/2/14 Born 1/13/14
Right now my DH is deployed but, when he is stateside he works from 5:30 am - 5:00 pm. M-F. Thankfully this does not interrupt our scheduling together. Except he likes to go to bed early since he has to get up at 4:00 am every day.
