Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Another sleep question

OMG, I'm dying here. We had a rough time with 4MW, got over that and DS started sleeping pretty well, 8 pm to 2 or 3am, feeding, then back to sleep until 6 or 7. Then he started waking up every 2 hours, not to eat each time, so we did some sleep training (Ferber) and he went back to waking up just once to eat. Then he got sick and wanted to nurse a lot, day and night, and would wake up as soon as I put him back in the crib so he ended up sleeping on me for 3 nights. So now he's not sick but he is still waking up EVERY HOUR!! He doesn't eat each time, sometimes just needs to be rocked for 5 minutes and he's asleep again.

We tried to use Ferber on him again but it didn't seem to work this time. We gave in after 2 nights of screaming for 2 hours in a row. Last night was the worst, waking up every hour from 8-2, then every half hour from 2 to 6. So should I just try Ferber again and stick with it no matter how long he cries? I need help!

Re: Another sleep question

  • I don't know that I would do Ferber or sleep training at all before 6 months of age or double their birth weight when at such point they shouldn't need to eat during the night.  Are you sure he's not teething or having something else going on?  Sorry you're having such a hard time!
