Graco PNP or Chicco play yard?

I'm going to use it as a bassinet when the baby comes home. It seems like Baby Bargains says good things about both. Any real life reviews would be great!

  • If you are going to use it as a bassinet, all you need is this one.  Skip the bells and whistles.  They are pretty useless.

  • I agree with PP.  If I would have even known that one existed, I would have registered for it.

  • I would go with Graco.  They're faster to set up and take down.  They're also lighter and more compact once stored.

If you want one with a few more features, I have this one and it worked really well.  The raised changer is easier on your back and it's very sturdy.  We never had any problems with it tipping.  I can also fit the bassinet in the bag even though it doesn't say so.  Just follow the storage instructions to the end and then wrap the bassinet around everything before you pull the bag up all the way.

  • I don't have an outside baby yet, but from doing research online I chose to register for the Chicco play yard rather than a Graco PNP. The deciding factor was that the changing table (which we plan on using often) is supported on three sides on the Chicco, whereas it's only supported on one side on the Graco, which seems to cause it to eventually start sloping and become unsteady. When we registered at BRU even some of the floor display models of the Graco PNPs had sloping changing tables, and it's not like these were being used regularly.

  • It really depends on how mobile you want it to be and what you are going to use it for after graduating baby from the bassinet to crib. That said- we have the Chicco one and it was perfect for us. We used it in our bedroom as a bassinet for the first 2 months. After that we transitioned LO to her crib and moved the play yard downstairs. We used it as a napping spot, used the changing table and really loved having it on the main level. I really liked how secure the changing table was and I think it will be a very sturdy travel crib even as she gets bigger. We have taken it with us traveling a couple times and it is not the easiest thing in the world to collapse and fold up, but we are getting better at it!

  • I registered for the Chicco playyard b/c I liked the look and features of this one better.  I also do not plan on moving it around or traveling with it.  I plan on buying a simple Graco PNP for my mom's place  b/c she does not need all the fancy features that the Chicco has.  I think they are both nice but it all depends what you need/are planning on using it for.

  • I have no experience w/the Chicco, though I'm sure it's fine.  We have the Graco (w/the changer) and my sister uses it w/her three kids when she comes to visit and likes it.  We will be using it as a bassinet as well.

  • I'm going w/ the Chicco Lullaby XL.  I looked at several PNPs at BRU and it seemed the most sturdy to me and had the beefiest wheels.  We camp a lot during the summer and are going to use it as a crib and changing table in the tent (it will also be used when we visit family and at home).  I like that it has a built in light w/ remote so I can check on LO in the dark w/out trying to fumble w/ a flashlight.

  • We have the chicco lullaby as well, she wouldnt sleep in the bassinet part, so we ended up getting a rock n' play, but its still great for a changing table (although it is a little low, so it hurts my back sometimes) We plan to use it in the future when we travel or at G&G's house. I got this model because the mattress seemed softer, the changing table seemed sturdier, and I liked the solid color vs. the patterns

  • The Chicco with the MamaDoo Kids mattress topper to make it more comfortable. Both portable and great for travel. Thye have a better price in their website than in amazon (great reviews, BTW).
