New Here! and a question...

Hi Everyone!

My name is Marissa. I just moved here (the Syracuse area) from NJ (originally from RI) with my husband and 11mo old daughter. I just want to say hi! I look forward to getting to know you all. Already, people seem much nicer here than anywhere else I've ever lived. So that' great. I live in Liverpool to be exact. Anyone out there with a baby around the same age?

And now for my question: I have been scouring the internet trying to find a half decent place to board my dog. All I can seem to find are places with terrible reviews (dogs dying). I don't know if I should believe them or not? I'm really hoping to find a personal recommendation. There were so many places in NJ where the dogs got a lot of attention or had the option of doggie daycare. I'll take anywhere that will keep my dog safe and alive at this point! ;)

    Welcome!  I'm in Liverpool as well!  I don't have any suggestions, never had to board my dogs.  But i'm sure someone will have a suggestion.  There are a few of us here from the Syracuse/Liverpool area.

    My brother used to live in Bayberry.  They used Ann Margaret kennels and were very happy.  I'll email them to see if there is anyone else they would trust.

    My SIL said "And at our former vet Liverpool Village Animal Hospital over by Heids on the parkway. Dr Hendrick was our vet."  I know she's said wonderful things about Dr Hendrick before.

    IAnn Margaret's son who runs the kennel is a client of mine. My boss has been there for appts a few times and says it is really nice. They have known the family for years. I think youll be happy.

    I have only boarded my dog once, and we used a place in Camillus. The pet hotel? I can't remember the name of it.

    Anyway, I live in liverpool and I have a 13 mo old son. I actually have family near providence, and I lived on the south shore of mass. :)

    Hi, I'm new here too. I have to recommendations for boarding, I live about an hour south of you, but just wanted to say hi. I'm originally from SE Mass but worked in RI for a while (warwick, cumberland, smithfield)

    Hi and welcome!  I am from Syracuse as well with a 2 yo and an almost 5 month old :).  We do not have to board our dog often, but when we have we have used Lafayette Kennel (they are radiant floor heating for the winter) or the PetHotel in Rochester, if we are headed that way.  Good luck!

    Wow! Thanks everyone. I really appreciate all the responses. I'm going to check out Ann Margarete's. The other places sound great too but the dog gets car sick if we drive too far.

     

    It's so great to see that there are so many moms from the Syracuse area. Do you all ever meet up?

     

    I'm happy to see so many with RI connections too! My husband had never met anyone from RI before me. I'm from North Providence, with family all over RI and southern Mass.

    Welcome!! I'm in Liverpool too, my girl is going to be 2 next month. Sorry no help for the kennel we never board our dog ( luckily we have lots of family around)

    Hi There! Im also from Lpool too! I have a 4 month old little boy...

    People gave some great suggestions for you - here's my take:

    I have boarded my dog at both the Liverpool Village Animal Hospital (also where I take my dog for Vet Care) and the Camillus Pet Lodge... If you are looking for convenience, then the Animal Hospital is the way to go (just in terms of a driving standpoint).

    But generally, for dog-sitting, I have a friend with two sons who lives in the Eastwood area... she dogsits for me, and I really like her, my Tiki isnt stuck in a kennel all day, he gets to play with her boys... so if you want her info, send me a PM!

    Thanks! I would love to find a dog sitting situation like that. Yet my dog is a little bit of a handful. She's great with the baby but scared (barks, growls) of men she doesn't know. She jumps all over people when they come in the door and barks at noises (hmm... this all sounds very normal when I write it down). She is super high energy. My husband runs 5mi with her every day. She also is slow to warm (barks, growls) up to other dogs. I'm not sure if you're friend wants all that on her plate? :)

    welcome! I'm sort of from the syracuse area, we are up north in Parish but DH works in Syracuse. We used to live in Baldwinsville. We have only boarded our dogs once but we took them to Animal Ark - I liked boarding there because it's also a vet. That's in Baldwinsville.
