How did it go for you? I am being induced tomorrow @ 8am and while I was induced with my first it was because my water broke and there wasn't any progress after that. Plus it's been a while and I want a refresher before tomorrow!
I was induced at 39 weeks 6 days, due to high BP. It went great up until the back labor started. I never was given the Oxytocin to help with contractions though, so i can't speak on that. I was given Cervidil to help thin out and help me dialate, this put me into active labor. I was really afraid of being induced and it wasn't nearly as bad as what i thought. The best advice i can give you is to have an open mind nothing ever goes as planned. They are trained professionals and will take good care of you and your baby. GL to you and looking forward to seeing pictures of your lo!

I was over due and only dialated 2 cm for a week with no progress. Patocin was started @ 6:20am and Lil Man was born @ 12:58pm. No problems I did get an epi bout 11am. My 2 and delivery was drug free but the patocin made my contractions realy bad and close together. Good luck I hope everything goes well for both of you.
Yeah, definitely go with the epidural! I thought I was a badass until that pitocin kicked in and I started getting contractions every 10 seconds .
I had a great induction. Pitocin started at 8am...4cm dilated at 10am and got epidural. By 12pm I was 10cm but we had to wait for doctor to arrive. Started pushing at 1pm and out came the baby at 1:13pm.
Wishing you a great induction tomorrow. Mine did not go so great...My water sac had a tear at 38.5 so my OB decided to induce. They offered me epidural really early on and I accepted it...I didn't know better. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure i got it too early and any progress I was making stopped. I ended up with a c-section. So, my advice to you is to definitely get an epidural but to hold out as long as you can!

I got to the hospital at 6am, got checked in and got in my room. a little before 8am, i was checked, i was at 5cm and contracting (I didn't feel them though!), and they started the pitocin. about 9:45, they broke my water and my pitocin was turned all the way up. by noon, I was 9cm and got my epidural (not long after my water broke actually, once that happened the pain got soooo intense! the epi made everything better tho, and i actually got to nap). at 1:56p I updated my facebook saying I was at 10cm and ready to push, just waiting on the doctor, my daughter was born at 2:27p... So once I started pushing, it didn't take long. My brother says he saw my doctor running in as he stepped outside to smoke, and by the time my brother was coming back in, they were in the waiting room announcing that I had her. I had a good expierence and wouldn't change it for the world! Good luck to you!!
I was induced and it went pretty smoothly. Tips I would give are eat as late as they'll let you because you won't get to eat once they start the Pitocin (at least that was my hospital's policy) A good thing is you don't have to labor at home with epi, if you're going that route. I was induced at 5 a.m and given an epi at 7 a.m (not by choice to have it that early, but the girl had a surgery to be in and that was when she was available) But anyway goodluck! and can't wait to see you're LO
I was induced for DS for the same reason you were with your first. My water broke at 6am, they started Pitocin at 6pm, antibiotics and nubain at 12am, started pushing at 3:15am and DS finally arrived at 4:30am. He was pretty stubborn! GL!!
I was induced at 38 weeks 2 days due to pre-eclampsia. I was 2 cm dialated when it started. They started the pitocin at 7:00 am, broke my water at 9:30 she was born at 12:48 pm after 1 push. So about 6 hours total, but the contractions didn't really start until they broke my water.
With DD 1 I was induced also at 39 weeks 2 days. I was 1 cm when it started. I was given cervadil to start things which took almost 24 hours and 3 doses to start working. With the last dose the doctor stripped my membranes which I think is really what got things moving. After this the contractions started around 5 or 6 am. My water broke on its own somewhere in there, I can't remember exactly what time, and she was born at 9:21 am after two pushes.
Both of my inductions were positive experiences, and I also had an epidural with both.
i was induced at 39wks4d due to low fluid. i was already dilated to 4cm on my own. they started the pitocin at 6pm and broke my water very shortly after that. only took about half an hour and i was ready for the epidural. started pushing at 12:30 am and had to stop at 3:30am. leota's stats were dropping quite a bit with each push so i ended up having a c-section. i was fully dilated and there was plenty of room for her to come out, she just wouldn't budge! so don't think an induction automatically means c-section like so many think. all in all it was a good experience up till they said i had to have a c-section (i had a bit of a panic attack lol)
September 30, 4:30pm: 39 week appt. Spike a high blood pressure and sent to triage at the hospital. Cervix high, long, closed, and firm. Baby at -2 station.
September 30, 6:00pm: Admitted to triage for monitoring for pre-e. No protein in urine, blood tests came back clean. BUT admitted for induction anyway because of the high blood pressure and being close to my due date.
September 30, 10:30pm: First round of Cytotec applied.
October 1, 2:30am: Cervix high, long, firm, but dilated 1 cm. Second round of Cytotec applied.
October 1, 6:30am: Cervix high, long, firm, but dilated 1 cm. Pitocin started.
October 1, 6:30pm: Cervix high, long, firm, but dilated 1 cm. Water broken.
Oh my, you lucky ladies had it easy! I waas induced at 39 weeks and 6 days due to pre-e. Started cervidil at 9PM Thursday, she wasn't born until 2:59AM Saturday!
That also involved 2 and a half hours of pushing and a non-working epidural. I hope that it's true that it's easier and faster the second time around!
