It was the prenatal vitamins

For the past week, I have been having digestive issues. Never a stomach ache, just digestive problems that are different than my IBS or chronic constipation (it was almost the opposite). It started getting terrible at like 4/5am every day.  So I switched what I was eating and drinking. No change. Then I realize that I just ran out of my old prenatal (Women's One-a-Day prenatal) and replaced them with some generics to save money (Spring Valley). I thought that might be the problem, so 3 days ago, I stopped taking them. And now, all systems are a go!

Anyone else have problems with their vitamins?

Re: It was the prenatal vitamins

  • I've had to stop taking mine too because of digestive issues. I tried so many different kinds, and still the same result. I'm not taking any right now :( I'm really trying to focus on getting all of my vitamins in, especially folic acid, each day. It's tough though!!

  • I'm not experienced it, but I have heard that it can cause stomach issues.  So glad you're feeling better!!!

  • I've finally come to the conclusion that my prenatals are making me sick to my stomach.  I took it last night and right before bed I started getting the heaves.  So today I took it after lunch and about a half hour later I felt sick again.  I'm gonna switch to the ones my OB gave me tomorrow and see if that makes me feel any better.

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'm going to pick up some more Women's One-a-day and pray that they'll be okay.  I was taking those since June with no problems, so hopefully I can go back to them without a problem.

  • Usually it's because they have iron in them.  I had a problem when I took my prenatal and folic acid at the same time.  Now I take one in the morning and one at night.  No poblem!
  • I had lots of issues with the One A Day Women's multi. The iron made me so sick and K even threw up several times. Since switching to a gummy without iron I have been doing great.

  • I had issues with the One-a-Day too - I think it was too potent for me.  I had to cycle through several prenatals, and ended up getting a prescription prenatal that was gentler on the stomach.
