3rd Trimester

Feeling TONS of pressure, hard to walk :/

I am 39 weeks, due in 8 days and starting last night (after walking tons in Walmart), I was carrying groceries to my door and got a horrible pain in my side, probably muscle spasm again from carrying groceries, then I started feeling tons and tons of pressure, I feel really sore in the crease where your thigh is, and it hurts to even walk or stand. It feels like the baby is really low and his head is just right there..He has been up in my ribs a lot lately so he probably isn't all the way dropped but has anyone else experienced this? I feel so stiff when I walk and I look like an old lady lol

  • Yes, even though i'm only 34 weeks, LO has been way down low the whole time. Makes for an interesting waddle walk, legs apart, knees bent, with my hands supporting my belly and back/pelvis, and having to stop every step to carry my weight,  So uncomfortable!  I feel like he's already got his head way down into my pelvis and he's peeking around as if to say hello.

  • Exactly!! I haven't had much back pain yet but starting tonight it's getting worse. I was the same at 34 weeks but now its just worse lol
  • Yes, I'm feeling this too, not fun!!! Dr. told me yesterday baby's head is low.  Tonight, when climbing up into my bed to read my boys bedtime stories, I literally could not lift my legs up to get into bed, it hurt so bad, I had to lift them up.  I'm soooo uncomfortable.  I have NEVER experienced this- both DSs stayed high up till the bitter, bitter end.  I hope you feel better!!!

  • YES. Initially, it was a lot of pressure. Now when I stand up, it's PAIN, a level of 7. I break a sweat trying to get up stairs. My tolerance is about five minutes of standing up.

This week I called about it and since it's getting gradually worse, they said it is probably the weight and position of the baby. First pregnancy.

A midwife in Labor & Delivery told me that for some it gets so bad they're hunched over like 90 year old women with walkers and some just can't walk. I guess that's why you see some preg. women in wheelchairs.

She told me basically, try to do a lot of planning if I need to do anything like use the bathroom or even get up. Fun times Big Smile

  • I am feeling the same even when I'm sitting.
  • Consider yourself lucky that it's just now happening. I've literally had this for weeks. Baby also likes to hit a nerve that feels like a knife in my vagina. I have reached the point in the past two weeks where I get the pressure and pain even while lying down now. I'd take it as a (good) sign that baby has dropped and is getting into position.
