We started giving LO something "forbidden" to play with at your LO's age during diaper changes. It was something really awesome that he normally couldn't have to play with & it was ONLY for diaper changes.
The items were obviously SAFE but cool--like a blank CD, a hair tie, closed up nail clippers--the big plastic ones for babies with the safety cover, a hair brush...etc.

We do the "here, play with this" thing too. The only thing that really still works is a tube of something. Because he can open it, but can't squirt it out. Yet.

What about a velcro board? TLF could wear a soft fuzzy suit and you could toss him onto the sticky board and he'd be frozen in place.
Lmao. Rach, in the four seconds it takes me to turn and grab a wipe, he's flipped over and across the room. I'll try the toy trick. When I hand him one of his regular toys, he just tosses it away.

I have also started to grab a wipe (or 2) before the changing process starts. That seems to help speed things up some.
I don't mean to scare anyone but it gets worse. Even forbidden objects aren't appealing anymore. There are plenty of time it has taken both DH and I to change her diaper. How sad is that?

You're 100% correct! It only works for a short amount of time but at least it saves sanity :-)

I get everything ready before I start, then go as fast as possible. She still tries to sit up/roll over/crawl away.
The thing that works the best is to hand her the squirt bottle I use to wet the wipes. It just has water in it, and she likes to drink it. If that doesn't work, we're screwed.
Re: Changing pad with arm and leg restraints
LOL--I remember having those thoughts.

A bondage/s&m supply website?
We did the forbidden toy thing too. It worked for a while.
LMAO--this visual just made me spit coffee all over!

We're in the hurry and try to roll and crawl away before mommy finishes stage.

The toy thing worked for us for a while, then the toy made it into the diaper area. So now we use books.
