Buying a house today and PIP

We are about to become homeowners since the closing is in a little while. I'm both very excited and anxious. The financial commitment is reasonable since interest rates are so low and because the market in Phoenix is so depressed.

This is our combination housewarming, anniversary and Hannukah present from my very, very generous inlaws and replacing the not so pretty white electric stove that is currently in the kitchen.

Congrats on your new home! I love the stove! I would have loved to purchase new appliances when we got our new home last year, but since the old ones still worked, we decided not to. Yay for awesome inlaws!

I am not a high maintenance person, don't care much about designer clothes, Jimmy Choos or $800 purses, but I drool over high end ranges. We first have to get the propane tank, build the enclosure and get the gas line connected. It's a major extravagance, but something that will increase the value of the house one day and make cooking so much more enjoyable. I guess we'll be eating home for the next few years to justify the expense.

We're buying a short sale and the refrigerator was taken when the previous occupants moved out. Also, the dishwasher is 16 years old and extremely noisy (it's a large open space), so we decided to replace everything with shiny, energy efficient stainless steel.
