Every "packing list" I have seen says you should bring a nursing bra to the hospital with you. And yet every book and article I have ready indicates that your chest gets HUGE post-delivery... how do you know what size nursing bra to purchase? I don't want to waste $ guessing!
Re: Nursing Bras - What size?
Really it's impossible to tell now what size you are going to need. I picked up a couple of nursing sleep bras - like sports bras, very roomy and comfy. Once my milk comes in I plan to get properly fitted for some more nursing bras.
I have a couple from my last baby - that I am actually currently wearing these days because I'm a D cup right now. But that could change.
I have mine from prior kids and I am totally wearing them already for comfort
I am a DDD in regular bras and go up to an H in nursing bras, boo.
The rule of thumb is to get measured at a maternity store after 36/37 weeks. Then, you add one full cup size to the measurement and buy that size.
Again, it might not work for everyone, but this is what I was told by two maternity stores when I was shopping for nursing bras with DD. Also, I only bought one on sale pre-baby and went out after baby and bought a couple more. I didn't want to spend a bunch of money until I could be sure of the sizing (FWIW, the "rule" applied to me).

My Rainbow Baby Boy born 03Jan2019
Fastest year of my life.
I'm not planning on buying any nursing bras until after the baby is born and my milk comes in.
I might buy a few nursing tanks to use in the mean time or just get by with regular tanks and t-shirts for a little while.
I didn't buy any nursing bras yet.
I bought 3 nursing tanks and once my milk comes in I will go get sized for nursing bras.
I didn't want to spend money on a bra now that might not fit once my milk comes in.
Just the topic of bras is frustrating right now! My regular bras are getting too small, so I went into Motherhood and the sales woman measured me, so I bought 3 bras in that size (nursing), they were the most uncomfortable things I have ever worn! They dug into my sides worse than my regular bras that are too small, so I exchanged them for different style-same thing. I went yesterday to Kohl's ( I live in northern MI and that is the only clothing store within an hour and a half of me other than TJ Maxx), they don't sell nursing bras in the store, so I bought a regular bra and after trying some on realized that the girl at Motherhood must have measured me wrong and that is why the underwire was digging in under my arm. So now I am going to attempt to order a couple bras online from Kohls and return the ones to Motherhood. So frustrating, I know after baby is born I will have to either drive an hour and a half or order online so I'd like to get some now and hope I have room to grow!
