Does that make any sense? I know its two completely different roles. But my parents have much more patience with my kids than they EVER did with us. Just a random thought from our short visit....
My dad lets my kids get away with murder ... never with us lol....my mom is about the same but has much more patience

I'M GRAPE JELLY- ALWAYS AROUND & ALWAYS THE SAME
If I leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me. For I must be traveling on now. Because there are too many places I've got to see. -Allen Collins & Ronnie VanZant
My favorite verse!
Ha! I know EXACTLY what you mean. My mom basically has no rules for DS at her house, although he is typically good when he is there. I have to remind her to punish him if he throws, spits, hits, etc, but she insists he is a complete angel when he is there. Sure wish she would have done that with me!

absolutely not....grandparents spoil..they don't have to enforce rules or be bad guys....because it doesn't matter in the big picture if one day my kids eat dessert before dinner. But that can't happen every day....
They don't have all the financial pressures, that can creep into being impatient....they don't have all the stress of working full time and coming home to three crazy kids...they just get to enjoy the kids when the kids are in good moods.
Parenting and Grandparenting are TOTALLY different.
I think it is pretty common for the grandparents to be "better" at that job than being parents. I think that comes from not being immersed in it 24/7 and age. Heck, my dad has kids that are my age and kids that are just now in high school and he's more patient with them than he was my brother and I.
As far as my mom goes, I'm not sure. I don't really remember how she was when I was 2, but I'd venture to guess that Nora gets away with a lot more than what I did at that age.
Hell.no. Much, much more patience, forgiveness and spoils her. My parents have Disney passes, so mom takes her at least 2x a month to Disney, she feeds her jello for lunch ("oh, I couldn't get her to eat anything else..."), they go out for tacos and yogurt w/ my dad, etc. I love it for DD, but completely different from the very uptight and extremely controlling, strict household I grew up in.
No way! I have great parents, but they were super strict. My parents will still uphold our rules for the most part, but they'll do a little to spoil. I love it. That's how my grandparents were too!

-My mom is the same. She was a SAHM and always played with us and took us places (library, gym class etc). She loves taking DD and DS to classes and they have as many toys at her house as we did. She has always been patient and a great mother.
-My dad worked a lot when we were kids. He wasn't very hands on and never took us places. He is completely different now. He takes DD to the park a couple times a week. He misses DD and DS if he doesn't see them for a day. It is crazy how much he has changed. I wish he had been like that when we were kids, but I am glad that the kids get to have so much fun with their grandpa.
