How many sheets to buy?

Hi! I showed my mother the bedding I want to buy from babybedding.com and it is somewhat pricey however her concern was your going to have to buy multiple sheets..for when the baby pees etc.

How many sheets are you buying for the crib??? any recomendations or advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Re: How many sheets to buy?

  • I bought 4. Three would probably do us fine but four made me feel a bit better.

I only got one sheet to go with the bedding specifically. Then I got a 3 plain ones that match the bedding.

Since we're having a winter baby in the Midwest two of the sheets I got are velour...I'm hoping they are warmer than the average cotton!

  • Four fitted sheets, three waterproof mattress covers. And that's *all* bedding we bought. Most of the things that you can buy or that come in a set - bumpers, blankets, comforters, pillows - can't even be used much if at all.

This. 1 sheet that was a little more expensive and matches the curtains and other decor then 3 coordinating solid colored sheets from Amazon or Target.

We have 2 waterproof mattress covers so the mattress can always be protected!

  • We have 6 - it's all because my mom bought us that many.  We could have gotten by with 3.  We never need more than 2 now.

  • My LO is 16 months, and I have just 2 fitted crib sheets. I prefer to use the cute patterned ones all the time (rather than have lots of plain extras). When one gets dirty, I put the back-up one on the bed while I wash the dirty one. We have 2 mattress pads too.
  • I bought 4. You could get away with 3 but having 4 will nearly guarantee you won't be without one when you've already had a bad week, skipped laundry, and have a wet bed at 3 am. Believe me, it happens. And there were half a dozen times that we had to do two night time bedding changes.

ETA: All 4 of ours are the same. We didn't buy any mattress pads because the mattress is waterproof. When we did cosleep - I just put a small mattress pad under where they baby slept, beneath the sheet.

  • We have 4 sheets, I make up the crib with at least 2 sheets at a time with liners/lap pads in between.  That way I can just take off the top layer, which is very helpful in the middle of the night.

I wouldn't buy 4 expensive sheets.  Just get extra Target sheets that coordinate with your bedding.

  • I am planning to buy one nicer sheet and maybe 2-3 backups.  Someone told me about these zipper sheets that make changing crib bedding really easy: https://www.cloudsandstars.com/  They come in a few different colors.
